Law enforcement has identified the man who was stabbed to death following a report of an attempted break-in and domestic violence in Grant Hill as 23-year-old Joshua Cruz.
He was found by San Diego police officers from Central Division who responded to a report of domestic violence in the 200 block of 28th Street at 12:42 a.m. Saturday. Paramedics took him to a local hospital, but doctors there pronounced Cruz dead with at least one stab wound to his torso.
According to preliminary information gathered by authorities, Cruz did not live at the home where the break-in occurred and had threatened to assault a woman inside. They said he forced his way into the home by kicking in the door. He was stabbed at least one time while inside the home.
The suspect is described as a 23-year-old Hispanic female. She was detained but released pending additional investigation. Authorities have not disclosed her name.Anyone with information regarding this incident can call the Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
