Eden McCoy Shares Major Career Change For General Hospital Character

General Hospital’sEden McCoy is excited to take the world by storm, and maybe even save it, as her character Josslyn "Joss" Jacks embarks on a new career as the latest operative of the World Security Bureau (WSB).

Last year the actress sat down with the show’s executives and was given the news that her character was about to embark on a wild few months. Her journey began that fall, when Joss’s boyfriend, Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), was going to tragically die. Joss would get her revenge and kill his murderer, the serial killer, Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).  As the story progressed, she would be recruited and become a spy working for the top-secret world government agency, the WSB. “That’s the plotline that I was told months and months ago, so you can imagine my excitement for everything that was going to be coming up!” she told Soap Opera Digest.

Everyone on set has been very supportive of McCoy’s character’s new career, with on-screen mom Laura Wright being the most supportive. “[She] thinks it’s great because she just loves good story, that’s the most important thing to her. She was excited for me because for the past few years, Josslyn has just been this girl that can’t understand how people in her life kill people, and Josslyn no longer has that excuse!”

Over the years, Josslyn has questioned how those in her mother’s life, specifically her ex-husband, Port Charles mob boss, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his right-hand man Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) could kill people and go on to live a normal day-to-day life. Now Josslyn understands that things are not as simple as being right or wrong.

Josslyn spent the last few weeks deep within the WSB training facility, working one-on-one with her handler Vaughn (Bryce Durfee). Now she has to work on her integration back into the real world. Back in Port Charles, she has to grapple with keeping her career a secret from those closest to her. This includes her best friend and roommate Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali).

“But it’s all out of protection and love. I mean, Josslyn’s choice is, you tell Trina and something bad could happen to her, or you don’t tell Trina, and you keep her safe. That’s the way that Josslyn has to think about things now,” she explained.

McCoy discussed working closely with Chris McKenna, who plays Station Chief Jack Brennan, Head of the W.S.B., Port Charles Field Office. McCoy has worked with McKenna since his first day on set and shares “It’s so nice to have somebody so warm and comfortable and sweet to share so much material with. We definitely have a big journey together coming up.”

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC at 2 p.m. EST and is available for streaming daily on Hulu.
