Kentucky basketball added a big-time transfer to its 2025-26 roster on Tuesday morning.
Former Arizona State forward Jayden Quaintance will play his sophomore season in Lexington, his father told ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. Quantance was previously committed to the Wildcats under John Calipari, but ended up enrolling at Arizona State for his freshman season.

Quaintance is extremely young for his class and is not eligible for the 2025 NBA Draft. However, he’s widely expected to be a top pick in the 2026 draft. During his freshman season at Arizona State, Quaintance averaged 9 points and 8 rebounds per game while making the Big 12 all-defensive team.
Quaintance is in the early stages of recovering from ACL surgery last month. However, his father told ESPN that doctors expect him to be ready for the start of the 2025-26 season. His father, Haminn Quaintance, also told ESPN that Kentucky has a “detailed plan” for how to approach the rehab process.
“Kentucky presented us with a very detailed plan for how they plan on bringing Jayden back with the trainers and how they want to use him once he’s healthy,” Quaintance told ESPN. “The way that they use their big men as offensive hubs, he really fits into that system. Jayden didn’t want to go somewhere where he’d just be a screener. Coach Pope made him feel really good. They went really deep on the analytics, going into things most coaches don’t even think of.”
Quaintance is the 4th transfer to commit to Mark Pope and the Wildcats so far this offseason.
