Dan Skillings Jr., Cincinnati transfer guard, draws attention from 2 SEC programs, per report

Dan Skillings Jr. has spent the past 3 seasons at Cincinnati, where he’s developed into a part-time starter and full-time spark plug off the bench.

However, as we prepare for the 2025-26 season, Skillings is testing the transfer portal, where he’s already drawing interest from a number of big-name schools.

Per ESPN college hoops insider Jeff Borzello, Skillings has heard from a pair of SEC basketball programs — LSU and Alabama — in the early part of the transfer portal process:

The Tigers and Crimson Tide are currently battling Baylor, Gonzaga and some other unnamed schools for Skillings’ services in 2025-26 and potentially beyond. Skillings will also reportedly test the NBA Draft waters, but it seems unlikely at this point that he’ll keep his name in what is seen as a loaded 2025 draft class.

This past season, Skillings appeared in 29 games for the Bearcats, starting 13 of them. He averaged 22.8 minutes per game and put up 9.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals per contest.

Can he develop into a starter at his next stop? Or will he be a key 6th Man for a Final Four contender? We’ll see what the future holds for Skillings as he decides his next step.
