Significantly warmer weather is coming to the region this week, with some low clouds and fog in coastal areas, forecasters said Sunday.
Inland valley areas will see some fog in the mornings, with a mix of partly cloudy and sunny conditions through the week and highs in the mid-to-upper 70s. Some light wind is expected near the foothills, with highs in the low 80s through the week.
Mountain areas should expect mostly sunny conditions and highs ranging in the upper 70s to 80s, with a high-pressure system building over the western states, the National Weather Service said in a discussion.
“This will bring significantly warmer conditions and a reduction in the marine layer presence, limiting the nocturnal low clouds and fog to the immediate coastal areas,” the agency said.
“Thursday will likely be the warmest day, with daytime high temperatures in the low 90s for portions of the inland valleys and upper deserts.”
Some gloom and cooling will return through next weekend, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s, but with some uncertainty remaining in the forecast.
Monday’s San Diego surf forecast includes a moderate-risk rip current, with surf from 3 to 5 feet and west swell from 270 degrees.
“Inland highs will be 10 to locally 20 degrees above normal Wednesday through Friday. Cooler next weekend, though it is uncertain how much cooling will occur,” the NWS said.
No hazardous marine conditions are expected through Friday.
