DENVER (KDVR) — The woman who hit and killed 17-year-old Magnus White while he was riding his bike was found guilty by a jury on Friday night.
On July 29, 2023, Magnus White was training in Boulder for a cycling tournament when he was hit by a vehicle. He was ejected from his bike and taken to the hospital, where he died later that night.
The driver, Yeva Smilianska, was charged with vehicular homicide and pleaded not guilty to the charge in May of 2024.
On Friday night, around 10 p.m., a jury gave its verdict, in a unanimous decision, that Smilianska was guilty after seven hours of deliberation.
She was found guilty of vehicular homicide and reckless driving instead of a lesser charge of careless driving causing death.
Smalianska will be sentenced on June 13.
