The list of people who live in Season 2 of 1923 seems to be getter shorter and shorter with each episode. More bodies piled up in last week's episode as the show heads toward the Season 2 finale. There's no word yet if there will be a third season of the show, but I suspect there probably won't be. Storylines will likely wrap up, and the Yellowstone universe will pick up with the next generation in 1944.

In last week's episode of 1923, “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters,” we quickly discovered that Marshal Kent (Jamie McShane) won the standoff between him and Pete Plenty Clouds (Jeremy Gauna). This was much to many viewers' dismay and even more so to Father Renaud (Sebastian Roche). The priest became so incensed over Kent killing everyone in sight that the good Father did a bad thing and killed Kent himself! Who was surprised to see that happen?
Teonna (Aminah Nieves) and Runs His Horse (Michael Spears) later discovered Pete's body and they rode away in hopes of escaping Father Renaud. Unfortunately, the priest found them. As he snuck up on their camp, Renaud killed Runs His Horse. With a gun to Teonna's head, Renaud demanded that she beg forgiveness for her sins. She would rather die at his hand than submit to his will so she refused.
Waiting for the last sound she'll ever hear - that of a single gunshot - she instead heard the gun malfunction. Teonna grabbed some embers from the banked fire and shoved it into his face, then stabbed him several times. To ensure he's dead, Teonna grabbed a gun and fired off a few rounds into her torturer. Who was more relieved to see this character gone for good: Teonna or the viewer? With a wail of sadness, Teonna cried over the body of her friend, Runs His Horse.
With no one left to chase her, will Teonna return to Montana? We know the Rainwater name continues into present day, does this mean Teonna is pregnant with Pete Plenty Clouds' child?

Meanwhile, Jacob (Harrison Ford) and Cara (Helen Mirren) got some good news after the Sheriff McDowell (Robert Patrick) stopped by the ranch to tell them that Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) was headed home. While it was great news for the Duttons, it also meant the war with Whitfield (Timothy Dalton) was getting closer to their doorstep, and the Duttons began to ready themselves for the battle to come.
As the Duttons spread out across the ranch to guard the land and to the train station to keep watch for Spencer, Jack Dutton (Darren Mann) got bored with this post and decided to head out in search of Jacob. His cockiness and overeagerness ended up getting him killed by one of Whitfield's men. We were all shocked to see the senseless death of Jack, who was going to be a first-time father in a few months. Will Elizabeth (Michelle Randolph) return to Boston after this? Will she somehow also die at the hands of Whitfield and his goons?
After the train trip from hell, Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer) finally got a lucky break with Hilary (Janet Montgomery) and Paul (Augustus Prew), a wealthy couple that brought Alex back to their home after the next leg of her trip was canceled. After she tells them the love story of her and Spencer, the couple decide they must get her to Montana and plan a road trip to get there. Someone should have told them to wait out the snow before traveling as gas stations are few and far between in the 1920s!
Once they get into snowy terrain, there isn't a Mobil or Shell station in sight. When Alex wakes up from a nap, she finds the car stopped, the fuel gage at "empty", Hilary frozen to death, and Paul dead farther away from the car, in all likelihood searching for help or a gallon of gas. How much more is this woman supposed to endure? Will she die of the cold also? Someone has to live on for the Dutton name to continue into the present day, right?

In this week's episode, "A Dream and a Memory," Spencer continues to make his way back to his home in Montana while Jacob and his crew eagerly await his return. Teonna must figure out her next move and has a fateful run-in. Meanwhile, Alexandra decides to brave the cold.
