THE teenager charged with murdering a promising student athlete at a track event made an admission to cops when he was arrested.
Karmelo Anthony, 17, is said to have plunged a knife into the heart of football star Austin Metcalf, also 17, in the bleachers of a sports stadium on April 2.
Cops arrested Anthony after he tried to run away and new details about the stabbing have since emerged.
One officer described the teen as the “alleged suspect,” to which he replied: “I’m not alleged, I did it,” according to an arrest report seen by the NBC affiliate KXAS-TV.
Anthony and Metcalf were fighting before the stabbing happened at Kuykendall stadium in Frisco, Texas, per cops.
A witness claimed Anthony threatened Metcalf before plunging the knife in his chest.
“Touch me and see what happens,” Anthony reportedly told Metcalf.
Anthony claimed he was acting in self-defense after allegedly using a black knife to stab Metcalf.
“I was protecting myself,” he reportedly told an officer.
“He put his hands on me.”
Metcalf’s devastated dad, Jeff, claimed there was a dispute over a seat – something which he said was trivial.
The real estate agent said his son’s death had shaken him to his core.
“I can’t describe the range of emotions I am feeling,” he posted on Facebook.
“I pray God will guide our paths moving forward.”
Metcalf was stabbed just days after he caught his first hog on a hunting trip.
Days before his death, he also posted about his faith on social media.
“Faith that God got me and my work will pay off,” the X post said.
On social media, he gushed about invites for upcoming summer football camps.

“But you were my partner in crime. When I was down you were there no matter what.”
Hunter described his late brother as the “most loyal” person he knew.
He called their mom, Meghan, informing her that Metcalf had been stabbed.
“He was holding the wound,” she told the ABC affiliate WFAA-TV.
Hunter said that he didn’t see his sibling get stabbed, but frantically tried to stem the bleeding.

Meghan revealed his goal was to play football in college.
Jalaal Abdullah said Metcalf was a “cheerleader,” willing his teammates on.
He also paid tribute to the fact he was always willing to listen and offer advice.
Meanwhile, Jackson Childers, another student, described Metcalf as his best friend.
Anthony could face up to 99 years in prison if he’s convicted.
He is being held at a jail in Collin County on a $1 million bond.
