Not many music acts are popular or brave enough to headline their own cruise, but you can count Modest Mouse as one of them.
While there are genre and decade specific music cruises, such as the Jam Cruise, Rock Legends Cruise and the ‘80s Cruise, KISS and Kid Rock are some of the few acts that have headlined their own.

Modest Mouse joins that club with the Modest Mouse Presents Ice Cream Floats cruise, which was announced on Thursday, April 3. The four-night journey sets sail from Miami to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic on the Norwegian Pearl Feb. 5-9, 2026.
Though Modest Mouse is headlining, they’re bringing along a lot of their indie rock friends, including Portugal, the Man, Kurt Vile and the Violators, comedian David Cross, Mannequin Pussy, Fidlar, Built to Spill and others.
The cruise will also include Modest Mouse-curated activities such as AMMA--Ask Modest Mouse Anything, Storytime with (Modest Mouse frontman) Isaac Brock, DJ sets and more.
Fans had a mostly positive reaction to the news on the Modest Mouse Instagram account.
“This looks amazing. Wish I could do it. Weekend of the Super Bowl is a killer ?,” wrote one while another posted, “This is my dream cruise, and honestly cruises sound like a nightmare.”
“10/10 would recommend,” another fan posted.
Headlining a cruise seems appropriate for Modest Mouse given that the band’s best-known song is 2004’s “Float On,” which topped the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song.
The sextet, which has changed its lineup several times over the years, included Johnny Marr, formerly of the Smiths, as a member from 2006-2009.
