THE Baltimore Ravens could have a problem brewing with star running back Derrick Henry’s contract.
The five-time NFL Pro Bowler is coming off another stellar season, but his current salary seemingly isn’t adding up.
Henry signed a two-year, $16 million deal with the Ravens in 2024 after eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans, earning three Pro Bowls during that span.
However, “King Henry” made only $9 million last year and will make just $6 million in 2025 after receiving a first-team All-Pro nod in his first season with the Ravens.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh appeared at the NFL’s annual meeting and shared that an extension for Henry is “definitely in the conversation.”
“I know [a contract extension has] been talked about, and yes, I’d love to see that get done as well,” Harbaugh said Monday.
Henry is set to have a $12.8 million cap hit in 2025.
The 31-year-old rushed for 1,921 yards and scored 18 touchdowns.
It will be worth monitoring whether Henry will appear at OTAs later this month without a new contract.
The offseason workouts are not mandatory.
It’ll also be interesting if Henry gets the new deal.
Henry isn’t the only offensive star that the Ravens could worry about when it comes to a future contract.
Harbaugh said that an extension will happen for star quarterback Lamar Jackson “sooner or later” due to the 2026 cap number, which is set to increase.
“How far along that is or whatever, I don’t know,” Harbaugh told reporters, via NBC Sports.
“But I definitely think it’s an obvious point that you’re making, that’s going to continue to have to be addressed, really, with all those guys.
“You’ve got to just kind of manage that dance — that salary-cap dance.
“And Lamar is the main part of that because he’s the franchise player.
“So, that’s a possibility, I think.
“Sooner or later, it definitely is going to have to happen.”
Harbaugh also said that Jackson will likely be the league’s highest-paid player once he receives his new contract.
The two-time NFL MVP penned a five-year, $260 million contract with the Ravens in 2023.
Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott still earns the most money per season ($60 million), thanks to his four-year, $240 million contract he signed last September.
