Bruce Springsteen delivered on the promise of unreleased new music on Thursday, April 3 but for now it’s just a single with the whole enchilada coming on June 27.
The song “Rain in the River” was released Thursday as the first single from Tracks II: The Lost Albums. The song comes from the lost album Perfect World, according to a statement from Springsteen’s camp and “encapsulates the project’s arena-ready E Street flavor.”

Tracks II will include 83 songs from “seven never-heard, full-length records” that will be available as a nine vinyl LPs or seven CD box set.
There will also be an abbreviated version Lost and Found: Selections From the Lost Albums that will feature 20 highlight tracks from the album on two vinyl LPs or one CD.
“'The Lost Albums' were full records, some of them even to the point of being mixed and not released,” said Springsteen in a statement. “I’ve played this music to myself and often close friends for years now. I’m glad you’ll get a chance to finally hear them. I hope you enjoy them.”
“I often read about myself in the ‘90s as having some lost period or something,” Springsteen explained in a video posted to Instagram. “And really, I was working the whole time. During the pandemic, what I did for that period of time was I finished everything I had in my vault.”
Fans were jazzed by the news, with one simply writing, “Thanks Bruce!!! ❤️”
“The greatest poet of the last fifty years bar none! Thank you Bruce!” wrote another.
Another fan was blown away by the enormity of the upcoming release, posting, “82 Songs!!”
