It’s been a whirlwind past month for Bryce Mitchell heading into UFC 314.
Mitchell (17-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) meets rising featherweight contender Jean Silva (15-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC) on April 12 at Kaseya Center in Miami. A once fan favorite, Mitchell came under serious fire for his pro-Adolf Hitler comments, which he later attempted to walk back.
Silva jumped on the opportunity to pile on Mitchell during a UFC 314 press conference March 7 in Las Vegas and turned the crowd against him by igniting a “F*ck Bryce Mitchell” chant. One would think Mitchell faces more pressure than anyone on the card, but “Thug Nasty” insists he remains unaffected.
“I’m unfazed by the pressure,” Mitchell said in an interview with MMA Guru. “I simply want to destroy this heathen that lies in front of me, and that’s all that I care about. What people have to say, I could care less. I’m here to crush a heathen who blasphemes my holy God.”
Ever since the press conference, Mitchell revealed that he experienced trouble sleeping after he had demonic dreams. Silva goes by the nickname “Lord,” and Mitchell suggests that his opponent continuously barking is proof he is under some spiritual influence.
“I do know that he’s possessed. I don’t think he is; I know he is,” Mitchell said. “I know this is a battle of good vs. evil, and don’t you dare think I’m calling myself good, and I’m calling Jean evil. I’m talking about who he serves is evil. Anything other than Jesus Christ is evil. I serve good.”
