Dolly Parton Reveals Late Mothers Life Advice in Classy Video

Dolly Parton, who has been in the entertainment industry for over 50 years, shared some personal life advice that her late mother Avie Lee gave her that she has stood by her whole life.

Parton did a new interview with Harper's Bazaar in which she answered some questions as part of an activity called "The First Five," revealing some of her "firsts" in life. As her last question, the publication asked Parton, "What's the first piece of advice you'd give to a young artist?"

    In response, Parton shared advice she said came from her mother, saying, "The first piece of advice I would give to a young artist is the same advice my mother gave to me, 'To thine own self be true.'"

    "Know who you are, know what your talent is, and be willing to work for it," the "Jolene" singer concluded the encouraging message. Parton's mother died in late 2003, while her father, Robert Lee Parton Sr., died in 2000.

    In the interview, Parton also sang a bit of the first song she ever wrote, "Little Tiny Tasseltop," shared travel advice for Tennessee, and talked about her "Joleans" collaboration with Good American.

    Fans cheered on the singer in the comments, with one writing, "She’s so classy!...A true lady! ??." Others wrote, "???True Icon❤️," "❤️ Dolly so much!!!" and "Love ya Dolly !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️." Parton's husband, Carl Dean, died on March 3, and the 79-year-old has been open about her emotions as she gets back to work after his passing.
