Lawyer Shares Why Blake Livelys Case Is Stronger Than Justin Baldonis

One of Blake Lively’s accusations against Justin Baldoni could set her apart in the pair’s ongoing legal battle.

“My professional opinion, Blake Lively has a stronger case. All of Justin Baldoni’s arguments about fame and control don’t really refute her claim of sexual harassment,” attorney and legal analyst Dina Doll shares in the new ID documentary In Dispute: Lively vs. Baldoni, which premieres in the U.S. on Monday, March 31. “Those allegations, the improvising of the kissing, talking about pornography, regardless of where your workplace is, those seem to be a pretty strong basis for a claim of sexual harassment.”

Doll, who is not associated with the case, went on to state that the “biggest loser[s]” in Lively, 37, Baldoni’s drama are “victims of domestic violence.” The pair’s legal battle is centered around claims related to their 2024 film It Ends With Us, in which Lively’s character survives domestic abuse from her husband, played by Baldoni, 41, who also directed the movie.

“This film is about domestic violence and nobody’s talking about domestic violence,” Doll stated in the doc. “The other sad thing is that there’s an allegation of sexual harassment on a domestic violence set, and the whole public seems to have decided whether or not that’s true long before the evidence has even been introduced at trial.” (The documentary, originally titled He Said, She Said: Blake Lively vs Justin Baldoni, previously aired in the U.K. on March 17.)

Sexual harassment and inappropriate on-set behavior were the main claims Lively made against Baldoni in her December 2024 lawsuit. She accused the It Ends With Us director of launching a “social manipulation” campaign against her to ruin her reputation. Lively also accused Baldoni of making other women “uncomfortable” on set in an amended February lawsuit.

Baldoni refuted his costar’s claims in his December 2024 lawsuit against The New York Times — who first reported on Lively’s case — and his January $400 million lawsuit against Lively, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist, Leslie Sloane. He also alleged that Lively attempted to take over creative control of It Ends With Us, excluded him from the film’s press and attempted to block him from attending the movie’s New York City premiere.

Both actors and their teams have vehemently denied each other’s claims. A trial date has been set for March 9, 2026.

Lively, Reynolds, 48, and Sloane have all filed motions to be removed from Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit. Additionally, The New York Times filed a motion to dismiss Baldoni’s $250 million lawsuit against them last month.

In the ID documentary, R Public Relations founder Emily Reynolds Bergh states that both Lively and Baldoni will “have to do some work” to restore their reputations once the legal drama dies down. “I believe for Blake, she needs to be vulnerable. She needs to have a moment where she’s a mom of four,” Bergh expressed. “We want to be connected to her and empathize … what woman hasn’t been uncomfortable in a workplace? We want to support her.”

She added, “For Justin, he has this platform of debunking toxic masculinity. He needs to also [say], ‘Hey, tail between my legs here, guys, I could have done better.’”

In Dispute: Lively vs. Baldoni premieres on ID Monday, March 31, at 8 p.m. ET. The lawsuits will be investigated further in Discovery+’s summer docuseries.
