LA Fleet Week got a downtown San Pedro welcome with music and dancing and other fun on Thursday night, May 22, as people gathered to welcome service men and women ahead of four days of celebration at the Port of Los Angeles.
Through Memorial Day, the 10th annual Fleet Week will offer various military-themed events and activities, including active duty ship tours; an expo with equipment displays and demonstrations; live music and stage performances; and contests and competitions.
While in town, the service men and women will fan out to enjoy the area’s restaurants and sight-seeing spots, do some volunteer work, and enjoy L.A. Dodger and Angel games.
Another welcome party was set to take place Friday evening at the Banning House in Banning Park, 401 E. M St., in Wilmington.
LA Fleet Week festivities are free and information is available at lafleetweek.com.
