A stretch of cooler, mostly cloudy weather will continue through Thursday, bringing occasional light precipitation, according to the National Weather Service.
The highest chance of rain arrives Thursday as a deeper trough of low pressure moves through the region.
High temperatures Tuesday are expected to reach 61 near the coast, 62 to 67 inland, 60 to 63 in the western valleys, 53 to 58 near the foothills, 46 to 54 in the mountains and 68 to 72 in the deserts, the NWS said.
Strong gusty winds will persist in the mountains and deserts through Tuesday night, with gusts reaching 45 to 55 mph and isolated peaks of up to 70 mph. Coastal areas will also experience gusty conditions Tuesday afternoon and evening. Areas of blowing dust are possible in the deserts.
Gale force gusts and steep seas are expected over the outer marine waters, creating hazardous conditions for boaters, according to the weather agency.
Forecasters said a shift to drier and warmer weather is expected by the weekend, with pleasant conditions continuing into early next week.
