Alan Clinton has resigned as Servite’s wrestling coach, a position he had held since 2007.
He will continue to work with Servite’s wrestling team as a consultant and assistant coach.
Clinton’s teams at Servite won six league championships and six CIF Southern Section championships. Servite wrestlers during his tenure won 25 CIF-SS individual championships.
He served as Servite’s athletic director from the start of the 2007-08 school year through the 2021-22 school year.
Clinton said his decision to step down is not based on his health.
“It’s time,” he said. “I have other things I need to do and take care of. It is a wise time to stay involved at Servite but to also have that flexibility to do what I need to do.”
Clinton said he will assist in the selection of his successor.
Before going to Servite he coached at El Modena, where his teams won five CIF-SS championships.
Clinton has won many honors, including Orange County wrestling coach of the year. He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2016 and the California Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2018.
