POLICE REPORTS

The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.

INJURED CAT: Caller in the 600 block of South Orchard Avenue reported at 9:33 a.m. March 24 that a cat had been hurt. An officer responded and transported it to the animal shelter.

    WELFARE CHECK: Caller at the corner of Ford Street and the railroad tracks requested  at 3:46 p.m. March 24 a welfare check on a dog there. An officer responded, reported counseling the owner and that all was OK.

    DOG BITE: An officer responded to Building Bridges on South State Street at 2:27 a.m. March 26 and took a report of a dog bite.

    PERSON WITH HATCHET: Caller at the corner of Cherry and South State streets reported at 6:49 p.m. March 26 that someone there had a hatchet. An officer responded and reported that the person was counseled and the “hatchet collected for destruction.”

    PERSON YELLING: Caller in the 300 block of East Gobbi Street requested at 12:01 a.m. March 27 a welfare check on someone on the ground, yelling. An officer responded and reported that the person was counseled and moving along.

    GRAFFITI AT SKATE PARK: Caller at the Skate Park reported at 7:25 a.m. March 27 finding graffiti at the bathrooms. An officer took a report.

    DOG ATTACK: Caller on Gibson Street reported at 9:48 a.m. March 27 that their dog was attacked by a neighbor’s dog. An officer took a report.

    DUMPED TIRES: Caller in the 400 block of Clara Avenue reported at 11:37 a.m. March 27 that tires had been dumped on the sidewalk. A message was left for streets employees.

    LOUD MUSIC: Caller on Village Circle reported at 12:09 p.m. March 27 that someone was playing loud music. An officer responded and reported that the music was “not loud.”

    FOUND CHILDREN: An officer responded to the 300 block of Hillview Avenue at 2:09 p.m. March 27 for “two found juveniles” and reported that they were returned to their parents.

    BURGLARY: Caller in the 600 block of Leslie Street reported at 3:48 a.m. March 28 that someone was trying to get into their location. An officer responded and arrested a 25-year-old Ukiah man for being drunk in public. He was booked into Mendocino County Jail.

    TRESPASS: Caller at the corner of Talmage Road and Airport Park Boulevard reported at 10:26 a.m. March 28 that someone was sleeping in front of a store. An officer responded and arrested a 59-year-old Lakeport man for Lake County warrants. He was booked into county jail.

    SHOPLIFTERS: An officer responded to the 600 block of South State Street at 8:14 p.m. March 28 for a report of shoplifters and arrested a 31-year-old Ukiah woman for petty theft and violating her probation, and Benjamin J. Z. Zahniser, 38, of Santa Rosa, on suspicion of petty theft with priors, possession of drug paraphernalia and violating his probation. Both suspects were booked into county jail.

    FIGHT: Caller in the 200 block of East Standley Street reported at 6:07 a.m. March 29 that someone was breaking a car window, and two men were fighting. An officer responded and arrested Welsey E. Bohannon, 37, of Lower Lake, on suspicion of felony vandalism. He was booked into county jail.

    DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Caller in the 700 block of El Rio Street reported at 9:27 a.m. March 29 that someone refused to left a woman out of a house. An officer responded and arrested Izik F.J. Cabrera, 27, of Fort Bragg, on suspicion of domestic violence, false imprisonment, and violating his probation. He was booked into county jail.

    WOMAN THROWING TRAFFIC CONES: Caller at the corner of South State Street and Beacon Lane reported at 4:37 p.m. March 29 that a woman in the road was throwing cones. An officer responded and arrested a 38-year-old Ukiah woman for being drunk in public. She was booked into county jail.

    FIGHT: Caller in the 700 block of South State Street reported a fight at 7:12 p.m. March 29. An officer responded and arrested a 46-year-old Redwood Valley woman for being drunk in public. She was booked into county jail.

    FIGHT: Multiple callers at Vinewood Park reported at 7:20 p.m. March 29 that a possible gang fight was occurring. An officer responded and arrested a 24-year-old Ukiah man for being drunk in public and violating his probation. He was booked into county jail.

    The following were compiled from reports prepared by the UPD regarding calls handled by the Fort Bragg Police Department.

    PANTS DOWN: Caller at the corner of North Franklin and East Redwood Avenue reported at 1:04 p.m. March 24 that someone there had their pants down. An officer responded and reported that the person was wearing shorts.

    SHOTS FIRED: Caller in the 800 block of Woodward Street reported at 8:10 p.m. March 25 hearing shots fired. An officer checked the area and reported it quiet, and that the noise had possibly been fireworks.

    HUSKY IN YARD: Caller on Howland Court reported at 1:43 p.m. March 26 finding a Husky in their backyard. An officer responded and reported returning the dog to its owner.

    Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper.
