AFC Bournemouth vs Manchester City predictions, odds and betting tips

Bournemouth will seek to inflict further misery on Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City team when they host the soon to be former Premier League champions in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

City have endured a frustrating season. Out of the Premier League title race and also the Champions League, the FA Cup and a top four finish is all that remains for the Light Blues to play for.

    Bournemouth vs Man City predictions

Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth defeated Manchester City for the first time ever when they beat them in the Premier League earlier this season.

Bournemouth’s 2-1 win came on Matchday 10. It was the first match in City’s four match losing streak which totally turned the league champion’s season on its head.

Not only did the result change the direction of travel that City were heading in, it also had a significant impact on the Cherries.

Bournemouth have since gone from strength to strength under Iraola’s leadership. They sit 10th in the Premier League on 44 points. That leaves them just four behind City in 5th and five behind Chelsea in 4th. Champions League qualification is a real possibility.

The Cherries took their place in the quarter-final by beating Wolves on penalties in the 5th Round.

The match ended 1-1 after extra time. Evanilson gave Bournemouth the lead after 30 minutes. His first half strike was cancelled out by a Matheus Cunha equaliser on the hour mark.

The teams couldn’t be separated thereafter and penalty kicks were needed. Bournemouth prevailed 5-4 winners with Luis Sinisterra scoring the decisive sudden death kick.

The FA Cup has provided City and Pep Guardiola some much needed respite as their season lurches from one crisis to another.

City are already out of the title race. They sit 22 points behind Liverpool with just nine matches remaining. Things didn’t go much better in Europe, with the Blues well beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League play off round.

City have led a bit of a charmed life in the FA Cup so far this season. Up until now, they have avoided top flight opposition.

Salford were the opponents in the third round. City made light work of their neighbours, thrashing them 8-0.

A tougher assignment followed with Pep’s team needing to come from a goal behind to beat Leyton Orient 2-1 in the 4th Round.

The draw again favoured City in round five, handing them a home tie against Plymouth Argyle. The Championship strugglers may have defeated Liverpool 1-0 in the 4th Round, but there was no repeat in the fifth, with City running out 3-1 winners at the Etihad.

Bournemouth vs Man City betting tips

This is the first real test Manchester City have faced in the FA Cup this season. If they fail to come through it they will finish the season without any domestic silverware for the first time since 2017.

    Bournemouth to win or draw

It’s really quite amazing to see Bournemouth to win or draw at odds as short as 4/7, but it’s simply a reflection of just how far Manchester City have fallen this season.

The Light Blues can no longer be trusted. They do have it in them to turn up and win away from home, but there is no justification for backing City to win, other than previous reputation.

A win for the Cherries is 8/5. If you want to play safe, back Bournemouth to win or draw.

Back Bournemouth to win or draw at 4/7 with Paddy Power

Justin Kluivert to score or assist

Justin Kluivert has 12 goals and six assists for Bournemouth in the Premier League this season.

The Dutchman has just started both his country’s Nations League matches against Spain, registering an assist in the 2-2 draw in the first leg.

His confidence should be high after that, and with ten goal involvements (six goals and four assists) in his last nine Premier League matches, he looks good to continue his excellent form against City in the FA Cup.

Back Justin Kluivert to score or assist at 7/5 with Casumo

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals

This pick is really down to the fact that we simply don’t know what version of Manchester City will turn up.

We’ve gone for Bournemouth and the draw in one of our other tips, but it wouldn’t be a huge shock if City manage to get a result.

We expect the Cherries to score, and we also believe City have a goal in them. The match here in the Premier League finished 2-1 to the home team. A repeat scoreline in favour of either team is highly possible.

Back yes in both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at 4/6 with Sky Bet
