Former India opener Virender Sehwag has taken a dig at the legendary captain MS Dhoni for coming too low in the batting order during the match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) played at Chennai.
It is to be noted that MS Dhoni came in to bat at No. 9 during the game. He batted lower than the offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who came in ahead of him at No. 8. The move was hugely surprising as it dented CSK's chances of a win.
While Ashwin couldn't make much impact with the bat as he finished on 11 off 8 balls, Dhoni played a late cameo and pushed CSK close to the 150-run mark. He remained unbeaten till the end, but the margin of defeat was still too much.

During a conversation on Cricbuzz after the CSK vs RCB match at Chepauk, Virender Sehwag was asked about the decision to send MS Dhoni at No. 9. However, Sehwag wasn't going to spare Dhoni this time around and decided to take a dig at him.
Sehwag joked and wondered whether the former CSK captain came in too early to bat. He further reminded everyone that Dhoni usually comes to bat only in the last two overs, but he came in at the 16th over this time.
"Jaldi aa gaye naa (Didn't he come early)," Sehwag said on the panel as everyone shared a laugh.
"When he came (to bat), 16 overs had been bowled, but usually he comes at the 19th or the 20th over. In this way, he came in to bat early. Either he came early or his batters lost the wickets early, he exclaimed.

There have been rumors of Virender Sehwag and MS Dhoni not sharing a great bond ever since they were playing for India. Sehwag had even claimed that Dhoni had dropped him from the Playing XI despite being in good form to give a chance to youngsters during their playing days.
MS Dhoni's knock goes in vain
After Shivam Dube was dismissed in the 13th over by Yash Dayal, it was expected that MS Dhoni would come in to bat next at his usual position of No. 8. With CSK needing more than 100 runs in just 7 overs at that time, a cameo from him was desperately required.
But Ravichandran Ashwin batted ahead of him. He tried his best to play the shots but couldn't get going. Ashwin finally perished in trying to attack Liam Livingstone. Dhoni arrived at the crease with loud cheers from the home crowd in Chennai.
It took him some balls to get going, but the legendary finisher finally connected one by smacking Josh Hazlewood through the leg side in the penultimate over of the match. He smashed another boundary of Hazlewood's next delivery.
In the last over of the match, Dhoni smashed 2 sixes and a four off the left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya to entertain the crowd. He remained unbeaten on 30 off 16 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.
RCB created history by defeating CSK
Dhoni's knock didn't have much impact in the match as CSK still lost by 50 runs. It was a dominating performance from RCB as they registered a competitive total of 196-7 after being put in to bat first.
There were contributions throughout the batting order, but skipper Rajat Patidar top-scored with 51 off just 32 balls. In reply, CSK were reduced to just 146-8 as RCB's bowlers put the squeeze on.
Hazlewood picked up the two early wickets, and it dented CSK's hopes of coming back into the game. It is RCB's first win in Chennai in 17 years. Their last win at this ground came way back in 2008.
