An apparent marital dispute led to a shooting that left a Chula Vista man dead and his wife wounded, authorities said Thursday.
Patrol officers responding to a report of gunfire shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday found the man and woman, both in their 60s, wounded in their house in the 600 block of Cazorla Avenue, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.
Paramedics took the couple to a hospital, where the husband was pronounced dead and the wife was admitted for treatment of injuries of undisclosed severity, Sgt. Anthony Molina said. The couple’s identities have been withheld.
The Rancho del Rey shooting was believed to have stemmed from a dispute involving only the man and woman, the sergeant said.
Police did not disclose who was believed to have fired the gunshots or if the violence might have been an attempted murder-suicide. The investigation is ongoing, they said.
