Groves represents a huge recruiting win for the Vols, particularly in their home state. He chose Tennessee over offers from programs such as Georgia, Ole Miss, USC, Florida State, Auburn and plenty more top programs.
He’s also one of the top edge prospects in this class. He’s the No. 260 overall player and the No. 25 edge in the country for this cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings. Groves is also ranked as the No. 7 player from the state of Tennessee.
Groves initially received an offer from the Vols way back in July of 2023, so Tennessee has been recruiting him for almost 2 years by this point. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 252 pounds.
Tennessee is now up to 8 commits in the class of 2026 with Groves being the highest-ranked defensive prospect in the class to-date. The Early Signing Period for the class of 2026 will take place in December.
