Reports: Arizona State lands Pepperdine transfer Moe Odum

The Arizona State Sun Devils men’s basketball team wasted no time in bolstering its backcourt, securing a commitment from Pepperdine transfer Moe Odum on Thursday morning, according to On3.

This comes just a day after Joson Sanon announced his move to St. John’s

Alston Mason departs the program as a graduating senior.

Odum would be the favorite on the roster to take the starting point guard position with his ability to create plays and drain threes at a great rate. His knack for creating scoring opportunities and stretching the floor will be a valuable asset in ASU’s backcourt.

Arizona State marks Odum’s third stop after spending his first three years in the West Coast Conference (WCC). The 6-foot-1 guard spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at Pacific before transferring to Pepperdine for his junior year.

What Moe Odum Brings to Arizona State

Head coach Bobby Hurley and his staff will hope Odum complements a core group that includes Jayden Quaintance, Amier Ali and Trevor Best — assuming they all remain with the program.

His 7.5 assists ranked fourth in the nation and second in the WCC. Additionally, his 13.1 points per game were second-most at Pepperdine.

Odum ended his time at Pepperdine with a historic stretch, becoming just the second player in NCAA history to record three consecutive double-doubles in points and assists during conference tournament play.
