Nantz is the iconic voice of the most iconic golf weekend, and he plans to continue calling it for years to come.

He has been on the call for The Masters every year since 1986, with next year being his 40th year on the call.

However, that anniversary isn’t a big enough occasion for Nantz to retire from The Masters.

He has a much bigger date on his mind to be his last edition at Augusta National.

In an interview with Bunkered, Nantz made it known that he has the 2036 Masters picked out as his final tournament.

It will be the 50th anniversary of his first Masters call and the 100th Masters Tournament.

“But if all the stars aligned, right now, it feels like a pretty good exit point,” Nantz said.

“April 14, 2036. That is my scheduled retirement date. It would be a perfect place to walk out.”

While that is his plan right now, Nantz acknowledged that those plans could change as the date gets closer.

“I know what’s going to happen,” he said.

“I’m going to get to that year, and I’m going to say, ‘You know, maybe I could do this for a while longer.

“We have broadcasters over here that have gone on well into their 80s, so that’s one of those ‘wait and sees,’ I guess.”

Nantz is without a doubt one of, if not the most recognizable sports voice of this generation.

While he is slowly reeling back the amount of sports he is calling, he still has the NFL and PGA Tour in his CBS responsibilities.

Should he continue calling the NFL alongside the PGA Tour in the future, he will have the chance to call the Super Bowl in 2028 and 2032.

Sports fans don’t want to see Nantz ever retire and shared their thoughts on social media.

“He gave us a 10 year heads up, what a guy,” one fan said.

“Come Back to March Madness! Please!!!!!!” another fan said.

“I’ll put it in my calendar,” a third fan said.
