The Mariners and catcher Cal Raleigh are finalizing an extension, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN. It’s a six-year deal worth $105MM. It starts this year and buys out three free agent seasons. The catcher and the club had previously avoided arbitration by agreeing to a salary of $5.6MM for 2025, so this deal adds five years and $99.4MM in terms of new money. The backstop gets full no-trade protection, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
More to come.
