Selena Gomez fans are asking for a health update after her fiancé Benny Blanco mentioned she had hand surgery around the time they first started dating.
Blanco, 37, made the confession during the duo's joint appearance on the Friday, March 21, episode of Today, where he recalled the hilarious and sweet story of how Gomez, 32, told him she loved him for the first time.

"When we first started dating, she had hand surgery and she was coming out of anesthesia, and she goes, ‘I love you.’ And I said, ‘what?’ And she goes, ‘I love you,’" Blanco explained, adding, "I was like, ‘Go back to bed.’”
He continued, "She said it a few times as a mistake, and then I was in New York City and I was like, 'I'm gonna do it. I have this whole thing planned.' And I was laying in bed with her and was about to say it … and then she says it before me! She steals my moment! She stole it!"

The Only Murders in the Building star previously revealed she underwent hand surgery, sharing the news via an Instagram comment in August 2023. She also opened up about the fiasco during an interview on the Ellen K Morning Show the following month.
"I wish I had, like, a really cool story that I saved someone’s life or something,” she explained. “But I was in a long dress—it was a summer dress —and I was walking from my car to my house and tripped.”
Gomez and Blanco first sparked romance rumors earlier that year. After she confirmed their relationship in December 2023, the pair announced their engagement a year later.
