In most cases, going viral for an arrest is something people want to avoid—but in the case of Georgia college student Lily Stewart, her recent mugshot has gained her more admirers than anything else.
The 20-year-old Alphi Chi sorority member, who attends the University of Georgia in Athens, was arrested for speeding over the "maximum limits" on March 8, as The New York Post reported. Shortly thereafter, her flawless mugshot skyrocketed to popularity on social media.

In the image, shared on X by Everything Georgia, Stewart grinned for the camera, looking surprisingly composed.

"She’s innocent," declared one person.
"She didn't do it, I was there," someone joked.
"Is her phone number in the report? Asking for a friend," another X user quipped.
"I’d pardon her and give her a job in my office if I was Governor of Georgia," somebody else chimed in, with another commenter pleading, "Lock me up instead officer."

Stewart herself later explained to The Post that she was arrested because she “accidentally” started speeding directly after she was ticketed for the same offense.
“It was the second time speeding that got me arrested,” she said. "[The cop] placed me in handcuffs and put me in the back of his car.”
Initially, Stewart was pulled over for driving approximately 75 mph in a 55-mph zone.
“The officer saw me while he was driving the opposite direction. He was like, ‘You’re speeding’ and he was super-friendly, and I was super-friendly, and he wrote me a ticket,” she said. Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of the story.
“As soon as I got back in the car, I pulled out—and accidentally started speeding again. By the time I caught myself, he pulled me over and arrested me.”
According to Stewart, the country road made speeding easy because “it was completely empty” with “cows grazing cows on either side.”
As for all the buzz about her mugshot, Stewart called the attention "hilarious."
“I don’t know what all the hype is about. I just took a mugshot and went on with my day,” she said.
“I love all the comments poking fun at me, saying, ‘She was on her way to Lululemon’ or ‘She must have had to [pee] really bad,'" she continued, adding, “I don’t let it get under my skin too much."
