Peacock has started an add-on subscription that will give fans living in a market serviced by an NBC Sports regional network to pay for access to the channel.

Fans can watch their local NBA, NBA, NHL, and, even WNBA, teams.

The new option will come at an additional cost, however.

The regional sports networks (RSN) included are: NBC Sports Bay Area, which broadcasts the Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants, NBC Sports Boston (Boston Celtics, Connecticut Sun), NBC Sports California (The Athletics, Sacramento Kings, San Jose Sharks, and NBC Sports Philadephia, which broadcasts the Philadelphia 76ers, Philadelphia Flyers, and Philadephia Phillies.

The prices for the add-on are different by market.

NBC Sports Bay Area will be priced at $17.93 per month, Boston will cost $14.95, California will be $17.95., and Philadelphia will be priced at $24.95.

It was first reported by the Wall Street Journal in October that Peacock could look to add NBC Sports regional sports networks to its streaming service.

The latest broadcasting change by NBC comes after the company has dropped numerous RSNs in recent memory.

In 2021, the network got rid of NBC Sports Northwest.

Then, a year later, the company sold NBC Sports Washington.

Last year, NBC shut down NBC Sports Chicago.

Nonetheless, NBC still has four regional sports networks.

The Comcast-owned NBC is still looking to force the NBC Sports RSNs into higher tiers in specific markets.

Peacock is in a spot to benefit in the four markets that NBC Sports still broadcasts in.

    New rights deal

The NBA signed an 11-year deal with three networks for the league's rights from the 2025-26 season.

And there will be no games on TNT for the first time since the network launched in 1988.

The Walt Disney Company will continue to show the league with 80 regular-season games across ESPN and ABC.

They will also show around 18 playoff games from the first and second round, a Conference Finals series for 10 of the 11 years, and remain the home of the NBA Finals.

NBC will return as an NBA broadcaster for the first time since 2002.

The network will show up to 100 games per season across it’s channels and Peacock streaming service.

It will also be the home of NBA All-Star and show approximately 28 playoff games from the first and second round.

NBC will show one Conference Finals Series for six of the 11 years, rotating with new broadcaster Amazon Prime.

Amazon will show 66 NBA regular-season games including one on Black Friday.

The streaming service is also the home of the latter stages of the NBA Cup and the entire Play-In Tournament.

Prime will also broadcast around one third of the playoff games in the first and second round.

NBC is the only major network that has a streaming platform and regional sports networks.

The company’s latest broadcasting change means that a customer must purchase a Peacock subscription to be able to access a respective NBC Sports regional sports network.

A Peacock Premium plan costs $7.99 a month or $79.99 per year.
