Chet Hanks recently made his talk show debut—and the son of Tom Hanks made a lasting impression as he channeled Tom Cruise during an unexpected moment.
On March 18, the Running Point star sat down with Drew Barrymore for a chat on The Drew Barrymore Show. Chet—the son of Tom and Rita Wilson—spoke about his Netflix series and sobriety, among other topics.

"This is my first time on a talk show ever, and there's something that I’ve always wanted to do," Chet, 34, said shortly after joining Barrymore, 50, on her couch. "Can I do it?"
Without knowing what he was about to do, Barrymore gave Chet the go-ahead.
"All right look, I'm gonna do this but I need you guys, it's only gonna work if you guys cheer really loud, OK?" he told the audience. "You gotta scream. You gotta lose your minds, or else I'm gonna look stupid. Can I count on you?"
After counting to three, Chet stood on the couch and threw his hands up in the air—recreating Cruise's viral 2005 couch-jumping moment when he professed his love for Katie Holmes during an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
The crowd cheered, as promised. Chet then leaped to the floor, pounded his fist on the ground and ran to Barrymore to let out a triumphant yell.

In an Instagram clip of the couch stunt, viewers reacted to the shocking moment.
One wrote, "He had a dream and there it was the couch... Mission accomplished ❤️❤️???."
Another shared, "Haha I love he did the Tom Cruise Oprah thing," while someone else confessed, "I still can't believe he is Tom Hanks kid. lol."
Meanwhile, others thought they spotted chemistry between Chet and Barrymore.
One suggested, "Drew you should date him. I think he matches your energy ? ?."
A different Instagram user echoed, "Drew! Is he single?! Date him!! Cute on the couch together ?."
In addition to Chet, Tom shares a son, Truman, 29, with Wilson and two children, Colin, 47, and Elizabeth, 42, with his ex-wife, the late Samantha Lewes.
