A college baseball player has apologized for an inappropriate celebration after making a big play in a game over the weekend.
Michigan infielder Mitch Voit appeared to mimic snorting cocaine as a celebration after he hit a bases-clearing triple during a game on Sunday. That hit gave Michigan a 5-0 lead over USC and the Wolverines went on to win 11-0.
However, it’s the celebration that has proved to get Voit in some hot water. Here’s video of the moment:

Voit issued an apology for his actions on Monday afternoon stating that he made an “immature” choice in the heat of the moment.
“I would like to apologize for my actions on third base yesterday,” Voit wrote. “I made an immature decision in heat of the moment. The gesture I made does not reflect my character, the household I was raised in, or the block M that I represent in any kind of way. I take full responsibility for what I did, and I am truly sorry to all those who I have negatively impacted by doing this.”

If he does miss any time, it would be impactful for a Wolverines team that is 11-8 on the season. Voit has arguably been Michigan’s best hitter so far this season as he’s batting .451 with 5 home runs and 28 RBI through 19 games. Voit leads all Michigan hitters in each of those categories.
We’ll see if Voit takes the field with the rest of the Wolverines on Tuesday against Western Michigan in Ann Arbor.
