SACRAMENTO — A man was sentenced to nearly a century in prison for sexually assaulting a young child and threatening to kill her and her family if she ever reported him, the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office said Friday.
Alfred Tibbey, 55, received a sentence of 98 years after being convicted in February of nine counts of committing forcible lewd acts on a child and one count of committing a lewd act on child, prosecutors said.
Other aggravating factors were found true that include the child being a vulnerable victim, Tibbey using a position of trust to commit the crimes, threats of violence, the sophistication and professionalism of the crimes, and the crimes involving great violence and bodily harm.
Tibbey began molesting the victim between 2020 and 2022. Prosecutors said the crime started when the child was 10. After making the death threats, Tibbey continued to sexually assault the child for eight more months.
The abuse ended when a family member of the victim caught Tibbey pulling down the victim's pants, prosecutors said.
The DA's office said that given Tibbey's age, will be eligible for elder parole once he serves at least 20 years of his sentence. In-custody credits already obtained by Tibbey mean his eligibility will come in around 17 years.
