Dan Orlovsky gives three-word response to Adam Schefter’s glowing tribute with ex-NFL star out of contract at ESPN

DAN Orlovsky has cast further doubts upon his ESPN future.

The analyst’s contract with the network is set to expire ahead of next season.

Appearing on First Take the morning after last month’s Super Bowl, Orlovsky hinted that he could be moving on.

“You guys know this is the end of the season for me, certainly for [Ryan Clark] as well,” Orlovsky said.

“I’m taking a break, won’t be on TV for a long time,” he said. “I just want to say to thank you to you guys, Stephen A, Molly [Qerim], Shannon [Sharpe] for a great season. I love you all.

“You never know what the future holds, but I’m taking a break. I’m sure R.C. is as well.

“So I just want to say thank you. I appreciate you guys so much.”

Following his cryptic sign-off, Orlovsky took three weeks off from broadcasting.

Upon his return, the 41-year-old was given a hearty welcome back by colleague Adam Schefter.

“During Dan Orlovsky’s career, he just wanted someone to love him the whole time,” Schefter said. “The only place that ever loved him that way was ESPN. We love Dan!”

In response, the former quarterback remained coy.

    “Time will tell,” he said.

Orlovsky played in the NFL between 2005 and 2017.

After announcing his retirement, he became a popular analyst on ESPN.

He signed his most recent three-year deal in 2022.

In January, Pat McAfee asked Orlovsky if he would potentially be interested in pivoting to coaching.

“If it’s the right place, right time, right people,” Orlovsky said.

“It seems to be a really, really fun experience.”

Orlovsky’s ESPN colleague Stephen A. Smith last week sealed a huge $100 million contract extension.

Following months of negotiations, the network finally came to an agreement with the First Take star.

Smith’s five-year extension will see him pocket $20m per season.

His previous deal was reportedly worth $12m a year.
