After quite a bit of a wait, period drama fans are in for a right treat as Belgravia: The Next Chapter finally comes to UK screens this weekend.
The anticipated follow-up to the original limited series created by Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey) premiered in 2024 in the US and since then, many have been waiting to see just when it’ll land on this side of the globe.
Fellowes’s earlier series, Belgravia, aired back in 2020 and this new instalment is set 30 years after its predecessor with an entirely new cast.
Unfolding in 1871, there are plenty of new characters to get acquainted with as well as a heaping dose of drama as it tells the love story of Frederick Trenchard, played by Ben Wainwright.
On the initial announcement of the new series, Fellowes said: “I’m so proud of everything this dedicated team accomplished with the original Belgravia series. I cannot wait for the world to return to Belgravia for this new iteration, expertly crafted by Helen Edmundson.
“Old and new fans alike will be swept off their feet with an emotionally engaging story, memorable characters, and brilliant production and costume design.”

How to watch Belgravia: The Next Chapter in the UK

The series initially premiered in the US on Sunday 14th January on MGM+ so after a year’s wait, UK fans can now indulge in the Julian Fellowes series.
What is Belgravia: The Next Chapter about?
Set 30 years after the original series, the new series has an entirely new cast and will once again explore London’s high society.
The synopsis reads: “Belgravia, 1871. The eligible Lord Frederick Trenchard meets the bewitching Clara Dunn, and they fall deeply in love. A romantic courtship and proposal follow, and Clara is swept off her feet.
“But there are hidden depths to Frederick; he carries trauma from his childhood, following years of emotional neglect and resentment from his father, who favoured the younger son, James.”
It continues: “Clara is highly perceptive, quickly realising there is trauma at the heart of Frederick’s guarded manner. She grows convinced that by fixing Frederick’s relationship with his estranged brother she can also restore his happiness.
“In the midst of her plans she starts to develop an unlikely friendship with the charming Dr Ellerby and is drawn into his bohemian world. Excited by the passionate way they live, Clara begins to question her place in the world. Clara and Frederick must chart a course through the rumours which threaten them, and confront long-buried secrets as they search for lasting happiness.”
Who stars in Belgravia: The Next Chapter?
