No. 5 Fort Lupton 66, No. 12 Lamar 51, in Fort Lupton: Fort Lupton never flinched, jumping out to a 24-14 lead after one quarter and extending that advantage to 55-34 by the fourth quarter on its home court. The Bluedevils won their 16th consecutive game and improved to 21-4 overall. With this win, and its regional title, Fort Lupton moves on to the eight-team quarterfinals against No. 4 Prospect Ridge (19-6) at a to-be-determined time Wednesday at the Denver Coliseum.

No. 1 Resurrection Christian 56, No. 17 St. Mary’s 37, in Loveland: Resurrection Christian comfortably rolled on to the quarterfinals with its top seed and undefeated record intact. St. Mary’s led 9-8 through the first quarter before the Cougars quickly and emphatically took control, outscoring the Pirates 16-9 in each the second and third quarters. Resurrection Christian improved to 25-0 and will face No. 8 Forge Christian (18-7) in the third round at a to-be-announced time Thursday at the University of Denver.

No. 1 University 67, No. 16 St. Mary’s Academy 28, in Greeley: University showed every bit the swagger one might expect from an unbeaten top seed. The Bulldogs were sharp from the get-go, leading 21-6 after one quarter and 37-15 by halftime. Senior Allizzey continued her fine scoring, leading University with 14 points to go with six steals and four rebounds. The Bulldogs improved to 25-0 and will face ninth-seeded postseason nemesis D’Evelyn (22-3) at a to-be-determined time Wednesday at the Denver Coliseum.
No.19 Colorado Academy 38, No. 3 Eaton 35, in Eaton: Eaton fell just inches short of advancing to the third round and moving on to the Denver Coliseum next week. A slow start plagued the Reds, as Colorado Academy jumped out to a 16-5 lead in the first quarter. Sophomore Delaney Reuter led Eaton with 11 points. The Reds ended their season with a 16-9 record.
3A second round
No. 1 Resurrection Christian 51, No. 16 Platte Valley 42, in Loveland: Resurrection Christian defended its top seed and its home court, despite a worthy challenge from its Patriot League foe. The Cougars stormed out to a 13-7 lead in the first quarter. Platte Valley ultimately clawed all the way back, tying the game at 39 through three quarters. Resurrection Christian clamped down on defense, outscoring the Broncos 12-3 in the fourth quarter. Resurrection Christian improved to 23-2 and will face No. 8 Strasburg (19-6) in the third round at a to-be-determined time Thursday at the University of Denver. Platte Valley ended its season with a 16-9 record.
No. 10 Wiggins 43, No. 7 Highland 41, in Ault: Highland saw its hopes of advancing to the University of Denver and the round of 8 next week dashed by the most narrow of margins. Wiggins jumped out to a 12-7 first-quarter lead, but the Huskies used a 19-14 third quarter to take a 33-32 lead heading into the fourth. The Tigers ultimately gained the narrow advantage by outscoring Highland 11-8 in the final quarter of the nip-and-tuck affair. The Huskies concluded their season with a 17-8 record.

No. 6 Briggsdale 36, No. 11 Caliche 32, in Briggsdale: Briggsdale’s hopes of winning a third consecutive state title remained well intact, thanks to this clutch regional title victory. The Falcons won their third consecutive game, improved to 18-6 overall and will face No. 3 Eads (21-3) in the quarterfinals at a be determined time Thursday at the University of Northern Colorado’s Bank of Colorado Arena.
No. 2 Idalia 56, No. 15 Prairie 23, in Idalia: Prairie faced a juggernaut and one of the top favorites in 1A, as the Mustangs ended their season with a 14-11 record. Idalia trailed 7-6 through one quarter before firmly taking control with a 16-1 run in the second quarter and a 21-7 run in the third.

No. 6 Windsor 72, No. 3 Dakota Ridge 64, in Denver: Windsor led by slight margins throughout the game before Dakota Ridge went on a 17-12 run in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime in the Denver Coliseum. The Wizards quickly regained the momentum, outscoring the Eagles 13-5 in overtime. Windsor improved to 20-6 and will face second-seeded Mesa Ridge in the semifinals at 7:15 p.m. Friday in the Denver Coliseum. Mesa Ridge defeated the Wizards in each of the past two postseason — a year ago in the title game and two years ago in the semifinals. The Grizzlies (25-1) have won the past two 5A state titles.

No. 15 University 60, No. 18 Manitou Springs 35, in Lafayette: University was sharp in its state tournament opener, improving to 17-7 overall. With this win, the Bulldogs snapped a three-game losing streak. University advanced to a second-round/regional title game against the region’s host, No. 2 Peak to Peak (22-2).
No. 5 Fort Lupton 57, No. 28 DSST: Cedar 39, in Fort Lupton: Fort Lupton was solid throughout this first round affair on its home court. The Bluedevils erased a 15-9 first-quarter deficit and quickly took control. Fort Lupton won its 15 consecutive game and improved to 20-4 to punch its ticket to Saturday’s second round/regional final game against No. 12 Lamar (17-7).
No. 17 Bennett 61, No. 16 Eaton 56, in Denver: Eaton lost a hard-fought playoff opener to end its season with a 14-10 record. Bennett (18-6) moved on to take on 4A’s top seed, Kent Denver (21-3), in the state tournament’s second round/the regional final.
3A first round
No. 1 Resurrection Christian 68, No. 32 Ignacio 29, in Loveland: On its home court, Resurrection Christian showed exactly why it is 3A’s top seed. The Cougars improved to 24-0 and punched its ticket to a regional title game Saturday against No. 17 St. Mary’s (16-8). Resurrection Christian wasted no time taking complete control, leading 20-5 after one quarter and 37-10 after two.
No. 6 Highland 76, No. 27 Colorado Springs Christian 47, in Ault: With four players in double figures, Highland comfortably advanced in the state/regional tournament. Senior John Bingley led the balanced Huskies with 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting to go with six rebounds and three steals. Highland improved to 18-6 heading into a regional title game Saturday against No. 11 Middle Park (19-4) in Ault.
No. 2 Windsor Charter advances, in Windsor:Windsor Charter moved on to the second round/regional final without needing to take the court. Fountain Valley, the 31st seed, withdrew from the tournament, giving the Firebirds a win via forfeit.
No. 7 SkyView Academy 80, No. 26 Frontier Academy 52, in Highlands Ranch: Frontier Academy had no answer for SkyView’s potent offense, as the Wolverines ended their season with a 10-14 record.
No. 5 Centauri 62, No. 28 Platte Valley 41, in La Jara: An upset wasn’t in the cards for Platte Valley on Centauri’s home court. The Broncos ended their season with a 7-17 record. Platte Valley’s back was against the wall from the get-go, as the Falcons took a 21-5 lead in the first quarter. The Broncos trimmed the gap to 33-25 by halftime, but Centauri kept Platte Valley at bay in the second half.
2A first round
No. 5 Plateau Valley 77, No. 28 Union Colony 53, in Colbran: Union Colony couldn’t slow down Plateau Valley on the Cowboys’ home court, as the Timberwolves ended their season with a 12-12 record. Plateau Valley led 48-19 by halftime.
No. 2 Crowley County 68, No. 31 Dayspring Christian 36, in Ordway: Dayspring Christian saw first hand why Crowley County (22-2) is one of the favorites in 2A. The Eagles ended their season with a 9-15 record.
1A second round
No. 6 Kim/Branson 48, No. 22 Prairie 38, in Kim: After scoring a minor upset a day earlier, 51-46 against Front Range Baptist in the first round, Prairie fell just a bit short of another upset. The Mustangs ended their season with a 13-12 record. They led 8-2 through one quarter before Kim/Branson gradually took control.

5A state tournament quarterfinals
No. 5 Green Mountain 46, No. 4 Roosevelt 42, in Denver: Roosevelt’s quest for a state title threepeat came to an end, as the Rough Riders wrapped up their season at the Denver Coliseum with a 22-4 record. Green Mountain (24-2) led by slight margins throughout the game. Before this loss, Roosevelt had won 14 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 17.

The Wizards hadn’t previously lost since Dec. 21. Windsor trailed just 20-19 at halftime, but Mullen (17-9) stayed a step or two ahead of the Wizards in the second half. Windsor ended its season with a 21-5 record.
4A state tournament first game
No. 1 University 56, No. 32 Eagle Ridge Academy 20, in Greeley: University, on its home court, didn’t allow Eagle Ridge any breathing room all game. The Bulldogs held Eagle Ridge to seven or fewer points in each quarter. Junior Maddie McNair and senior Allizzey Madrigal each scored 10 points for University. The Bulldogs remained undefeated, 24-0, heading into Saturday’s second-round/regional title game against No. 16 St. Mary’s Academy (14-9).
No. 3 Eaton 54, No. 30 La Junta 17, in Eaton: Eaton was dominant in all facets on its home court. The Reds were in firm control from the onset, leading 16-9 after one quarter and 29-12 after two. Sophomore standout Courtney Steinkamp led Eaton with 17 points. The Reds improved to 16-8 heading into Saturday’s second-round/regional title game against No. 19 Colorado Academy (12-12).
No. 15 Berthoud 60, No. 38 Valley 38, in Timnath: Valley wasn’t able to extend its strong season any further. The Vikings wrapped up their campaign with a 14-10 record.
No. 5 Alamosa 41, No. 28 Weld Central 29, in Alamosa: Alamosa created just enough separation to avoid any real threat for a first-round upset. The Rebels ended their season at 6-18.
No. 6 Delta 79, No. 27 Fort Lupton 24, in Delta: Fort Lupton’s five-hour road trip didn’t quite bear fruit, as the Bluedevils ended their season with a 13-10 record.

No. 16 Platte Valley 41, No. 17 Gunnison 34, in Loveland: Platte Valley grinded to this hard-fought win on Resurrection Christian’s home court. The Broncos led 19-11 at halftime before being outscored 12-2 in the third quarter. They quickly regrouped, outscoring Gunnison 20-11 in the fourth quarter. Senior Lauryn Uyemura led Platte Valley, scoring 17 points to go with six steals. The Broncos won their fifth consecutive game and improved to 16-8 heading into their regional title game Saturday against top-seeded Resurrection Christian.
No. 7 Highland 62, No. 26 Buena Vista 39, in Ault: Highland effectively defended its home court and improved to 17-7. The Huskies led 18-7 after one quarter and 35-19 after two. Highland punched its ticket to a regional title game Saturday against No. 10 Wiggins (16-8).
No. 5 Colorado Springs Christian 57, No. 28 Windsor Charter 16, in Colorado Springs: Windsor Charter couldn’t get its offense into any kind of rhythm, ending its season at 11-13. Colorado Springs Christian led 21-0 after one quarter and 35-0 after two.
2A first round
No. 10 Center 30, No. 23 Dayspring Christian 21, in Hoehne: Dayspring fell short in this defensive-minded first-round affair. The Eagles ended their season on a four-game losing streak, falling to 10-14 overall.

No. 6 Briggsdale 48, No. 27 Arickaree 42, in Briggsdale: Briggsdale took a step toward defending its 1A state title, leading just 23-21 at halftime before going on a 12-3 run in the third quarter. Sophomore Bailey Loyd and freshman Presleigh Herrick scored 12 points apiece for the Falcons to pave the way for Briggsdale’s regional title game Saturday against No. 11 Caliche (18-6). The Falcons improved to 17-6.
No. 15 Prairie 54, No. 18 Otis 32, in Idalia: Prairie got off to an impressive start to its state tournament, improving to 14-10 overall. The Mustangs led 33-22 at halftime before creating all the cushion they needed with a 15-6 run in the third quarter. Prairie’s win set up a matchup with second-seeded Idalia (20-4) in the regional final Saturday.
