Bookies ‘stunned’ as ‘monster payout’ from 25p each-way punt robs them blind – despite two horses losing

BOOKIES William Hill were left ‘stunned’ when a ‘monster’ 25p each-way winner stung them for a massive £35,000.

The bet, which took in horses at Kelso, Doncaster and Newbury last Saturday, is all the more remarkable considering two of the selections lost.

PAWilliam Hill were staring a £400,000 payout in the face so it could have been worse – but the punter still walked off with £35,000[/caption]

The 25p each-way Lucky 63 came to a total outlay of £31.50 – with six runners in total being backed.

The punter has a massive Cheltenham Festival kitty to splurge now after Bold Light got the ball rolling by winning the 2.20pm at Kelso by a neck at 17-2.

Tommy’s Oscar was the next in the huge bet – which included six singles, 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 four-folds, six five-folds and a six-fold acca.

But he failed to place in the 2.40 at Doncaster.

While hopes of a truly life-changing sum were dashed there, Jet To Vegas’ 22-1 win and 33-1 Moroder’s fresk Grimthorpe Chase victory at Doncaster got the juices flowing.

Incredibly, Cracking Rhapsody then won the Morebattle Hurdle at Kelso at odds of 14-1.

William Hill were staring at a £400,000 payout by the time Paul Nicholls’ Grand National hope Kandoo Kid lined up in the Greatwood Gold Cup at Newbury.

The last leg of the bet was sent off 9-1 but sadly for the punter had no chance from three out – as 16-1 Booster Bob flew home from the clouds to nab Vincenzo.

It meant that even though there was no fairytale, the punter still made off with a cool £35,000.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “There’s no better time to land a big odds acca than with just over a week to go until the Cheltenham Festival.“With selections at 14-1, 22-1 and 33-1, it was certainly an outside bet, but that’s led to a monster payout of over £35,000 from just a £31.50 outlay.

“The run of 22-1, 33-1 and 14-1 winners between 2.55 and 3.30 must have been some thrill!”

This win came after William Hill were whacked for £47,000 by another punter who landed two outrageous bets.
