Jordan Travis joined the Jets as a 5th-round pick in 2024 but did not play for the franchise during his rookie season due to injury.
Travis was still recovering from the devastating leg injury he suffered late in the 2023 season during his final year at Florida State. Now we know more about why Travis was sidelined for the entire 2024 season.
According to Travis’ agent, Deiric Jackson, the Jets “rushed” his rehab in an attempt to get him on the field as soon as possible.
“His rehab with the Jets was not the best,” Jackson told ESPN. “They tried to rush him. It was too fast. There was pressure on the coaching staff and they tried to get him going sooner than the timeline really was. That caused the setback, and we had to shut him down completely.”
Despite the “rushed” process, Jackson says he’s “optimistic” that Travis will be ready for the 2025 season. Travis is under consideration to replace Aaron Rodgers, who the franchise parted ways with earlier this offseason.
For what it’s worth, the Jets denied going off script during Travis’ injury rehab. A team spokesman told ESPN that it followed the treatment plan outlined by Travis’ surgeon. Regardless, the Jets will have a new general manager (Darren Mougey) and head coach (Aaron Glenn) for the 2025 season.
