Ground and air crews made quick work Friday of a brush fire that blackened almost 40 acres of grassy, rolling meadows east of Lake Henshaw.
A vehicle fire sparked the blaze at about 3:15 p.m. Friday near San Felipe Road and state Route 79, about four miles east of the lake in Warner Springs, according to Cal Fire.
Firefighters, including personnel aboard air tankers and water-dropping helicopters, halted the spread of the blaze at an estimated 39 acres shortly before 4 p.m., said Thomas Shoots, a fire captain with the state agency.
There were no reports of structural damage or injuries, Shoots said.
