An old photo of Billy Joel from his teenage years has surfaced, and the legendary musician is nearly unrecognizable in it.
The Instagram account Long Island Connection shared a series of unearthed celebrity school photos on Friday, Feb. 28, bringing fans back in time to when Joel, now 75, was just a teen.

The "Piano Man" crooner, a New York native, appeared in the collection of celebrity school photos, which also included photos of Matt Cardona, Lorraine Bracco and Pat Benatar when they were in school. Joel could be seen posing in a black and white image taken in 1964, when he was about 15 years old.
The throwback photo showed Joel as a lean kid, dressed in a light button down shirt with rolled-up sleeves and a pair of dark-colored trousers. Since the photo was taken decades ago, Joel hardly looked the same. Not only did he still have a baby face at the time, but he also had a full head of dark hair.

Joel attended Hicksville High School in Hicksville, New York, though he famously didn't graduate with his class in 1967 due to a missed English credit. According to Billboard, Joel had performed at a piano bar the night before his English final, causing him to oversleep and miss the exam.
Instead of attending summer school to get his diploma, Joel decided to pursue music instead.
However, 25 years later, Joel ended up receiving his diploma and got to walk at the commencement ceremony with Hicksville High School's graduating class of '92.

He also delivered the commencement address to his the graduating class at his alma mater in 2017.
