Malibu and Los Angeles County Beaches were placed under an updated beach hazards statement by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 3:12 a.m. The statement is valid for Wednesday, Feb. 26 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
According to the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA, “Dangerous rip currents and elevated surf of 4 to 6 feet expected.”
“There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore,” the NWS said. “Remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly locations in such conditions, so stay off the rocks.”
