Drew Carey is on the verge of hosting the 10,000th episode of The Price Is Right.
Ahead of the game show’s milestone moment, the actor and comedian stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to chat about the program, where he revealed that it took him some time to come into his own after iconic host Bob Barker’s departure.

Carey told Jimmy Kimmel that he’s hosted 3,317 episodes of The Price Is Right, who then responded that Barker hosted 6,731.
“You’re almost halfway there, you only have to do 18 more years,” Kimmel quipped. Though Carey has hosted the game show since 2007, he spoke candidly about taking his time to make his mark on the show.
While he doesn’t select the prizes that contestants can win on the show, he admitted that he sends suggestions “if I see something on the internet” but “at first, I would just show up and hope that I didn’t screw up the place.”
Kimmel asked if there were any prizes that he didn’t want to give away, and Carey had his answer ready to go. “There was one prize that bugged me the first season, we would give away a grandfather clock every show,” he said.
Carey continued, noting that he “never got it. Every time there would be a grandfather clock, I’d be there with my mic like, ‘alright, well, I guess people like grandfather clocks, I’m just going to shut up.’”
“One of the first things I wanted to do…when I finally was able to speak up, was to get rid of the grandfather clocks,” Carey stated before admitting, “I miss the Rice-A-Roni though! I want Rice-A-Roni back.”
