Jane Fonda, who has had an illustrious career filled with exciting roles like Coming Home, Grace and Frankie and more, took a trip down memory lane to reflect on her career—while also sharing her thoughts on possible remakes of her hit films.
She sat down for an interview with Vogue, and when the topic of two remakes in development, for 1980's 9 to 5 and 1968's Barbarella, was brought up, Fonda shared a bold opinion on the matter.

The interview highlighted how Edgar Wright and Sydney Sweeney are currently working on a Barbarella remake and Jennifer Aniston and Diablo Cody are developing a 9 to 5 remake, leading to a question about Fonda's thoughts on her "iconic films being reinterpreted."
"Good luck," she bluntly responded, before elaborating about what made her feel that way. "Well, we’ve tried. Dolly [Parton], Lily [Tomlin], and I have tried to make a remake of 9 to 5 for quite some time, but we were never able to find the right script."
Sharing a bit about the original stars' vision for the potential remake, Fonda noted that it would have starred the three original actresses as well as younger women.
"If there’s gonna be a remake, it has to address the issues facing office workers because it’s even worse today than when we made the original. One of the great things about 9 to 5 is that it’s over-the-top and hilarious but still based in reality," Fonda explained.
She noted that she also had "a lot of ideas" about a possible Barbarella remake, and if involved, she wouldn't play the lead character again. While Fonda said, "Nobody’s asked me about it!" she shared enthusiastic support for Sweeney's casting, saying, "I’ve never met her, but I think she’s great. I’m sure she’ll be a fantastic Barbarella."
While Fonda doesn't officially have any new projects in the works, she revealed in the interview that she is attempting to purchase the rights to two books, likely to adapt for the screen. "I’m excited about sinking my teeth into a new character soon," she proclaimed.
