Top 5 Jacksonville Jaguars Free Agent Targets

After a down season, the Jacksonville Jaguars are looking to rebound under new head coach Liam Coen. With key positions still in need of improvement, the team is eyeing free agency to strengthen their roster. Here are the top five free agents the Jaguars should target this offseason to take their game to the next level.

1. Mekhi Becton — G, Philadelphia Eagles

Jacksonville needs help on the offensive line, but it’s doubtful they’re in the Trey Smith sweepstakes. Enter Mekhi Becton, who turned in an excellent season with the Philadelphia Eagles after moving inside following a disappointing start to his NFL career with the New York Jets. Becton seems like a more realistic target for Jacksonville, and he’ll come at a lesser price tag, allowing Jacksonville to better allocate their $32.27 million in cap space.

    2. D.J. Reed — CB, New York Jets

From one former New York Jet to another, D.J. Reed should be on Jacksonville’s radar. The Jaguars pass defense ranked dead-last in the league in 2024, so they’ll likely be in the market for help at multiple secondary positions. Reed has posted six straight seasons with a PFF overall grade north of 70, and his 70.1 coverage grade ranked 31st among cornerbacks last season.

    3. Teven Jenkins — G, Chicago Bears

If Jacksonville misses on Mekhi Becton, Teven Jenkins could be the second or third-tier interior offensive lineman they’ll be in contention for. When healthy, Jenkins was a competent starting interior offensive lineman who had success on both sides of the interior offensive line. Staying healthy has always been an issue for Jenkins, so there’s some inherent risk here, but this is likely where Jacksonville falls into the puzzle on the interior offensive lineman sweepstakes.

    4. B.J. Hill — DT, Cincinnati Bengals

Jacksonville will also be in the market for interior defensive linemen, and like on the other side of the ball, they’re probably not spending—or more likely converting—at the top of the market. Enter B.J. Hill, who’s been a solid contributor for the Cincinnati Bengals up the middle for years.

    5. Stephon Gilmore — CB, Minnesota Vikings

Jacksonville needs a bunch of help in the secondary. Even if they land a first-tier cornerback like D.J. Reed, they should be pursuing the services of an affordable veteran such as Stephon Gilmore. Gilmore is well into his thirties, but he’s been a solid contributor in various locations since winning the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year Award.
