One of University Place mall’s newer tenants recently began welcoming visitors in Chapel Hill.
WakeMed officially opened its latest MyCare 365 office in one of the newly constructed buildings the week of Feb. 10, offering a new primary care and urgent care option to the community. The facility, located at 237 South Estes Drive (Suite 101), is the first WakeMed clinic of its kind in Chapel Hill and the 11th MyCare 365 location overall.
“WakeMed is growing for good health and continues to expand its network of primary and urgent care services throughout the region,” said a release from the Wake County-based healthcare provider. “With the opening of MyCare 365 – University Place, WakeMed continues its commitment to enhancing access to services that help improve the health and well-being of the community.”
As an urgent care, the clinic welcomes people with and without scheduled appointments for all types of medical ailments. It can also serve as a primary care location for regular WakeMed patrons, and handles vaccinations, COVID-19 testing and sports physicals. With all of its MyCare 365 locations, the facility will be open seven days a week, every day. A list of accepted insurances by WakeMed can be found here.
The WakeMed location is the first business to open in one of the newest buildings at University Place, built on the eastern side of the property across from Chick-fil-A as part of the mall’s ongoing redevelopment under Ram Realty. Building 2, as it is listed in University Place’s visioning plan, will eventually have another tenant alongside WakeMed and the nearby Building 3 — which fronts Fordham Boulevard — will have space for three additional businesses. One of those is set to be the Indian street food restaurant Curry Up Now, which Ram Realty says does not have a timeline for opening. Meanwhile, the area previously fenced off for the demolition of Southern Season and eastern end of the existing mall building is once again open to traffic — and one of the anchor businesses for The Common green space within that footprint, Jeni’s Ice Cream, is expected to be one of the next new businesses open.
Hours for the University Place WakeMed MyCare 365 location are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
