THE NFL has closed its case on star wide receiver Jameson Williams’ hidden firearm case.
The Detroit Lions star player was picked up with a handgun in October, but the case is now closed.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Williams won’t face any suspension or fine for the incident last year.
The 23-year-old wide receiver avoided criminal charges for the gun at the time after police found it during a traffic stop.
He was a passenger in a car driven by his brother when they were pulled over for speeding. Two guns were found in the car, one being registered to each brother.
Williams did not have a concealed-carry license at the time, but later obtained one.
He was fortunate to escape a suspension from the NFL, as he has already been forced to sit out twice in his three-year career.
Williams has missed a total of six games due to suspension so far after violating the league’s gambling and performance enhancing drug policies.
He has also been fined over $70,000 for various in-game issues including taunting, obscene gestures, and celebrations.
His most recent fine came during the Lions’ playoff loss to the Washington Commanders.
Williams appeared to hip thrust into the ground before being picked up by his teammate Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Cameras were quick to evade Williams, but fans got about a two second look at the celebration.
The NFL’s social media pages posted the touchdown, but made sure to cut out his celebration.
When he isn’t getting into trouble, Williams is one of the most explosive players in the league.
Williams was drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Lions.
He missed most of his first season after suffering a devastating knee injury in college at Alabama.
