TMZ reported the 57-year-old’s health scare but say he is in “great spirits.”

They also shared a picture of Ball in a wheelchair and smiling.

Ball shot to fame when his sons were in college basketball.

He tried his best to draw attention to their basketball skills.

But the 57-year-old made some controversial claims and had some unusual methods.

And he was banned by ESPN for a comment made towards First Take host Molly Qerim in 2019.

Host Qerim said, “LaVar, can I switch gears with you because I have a question here.”

LaVar replied, “You can switch gears with me anytime.”

Lonzo, 27, was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers.

The most high-profile of the brothers starred in college at UCLA.

He moved to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019.

And Lonzo has been with the Chicago Bulls since 2021.

LiAngelo, 26, and LaMelo, 23, both took an unusual route in their basketball careers.

They signed for Prienai in Lithuania in 2018 rather than pursue the traditional college basketball route.

And they also played for the Los Angeles Ballers in the same year.

The team was part of the Junior Basketball Association – a league founded by LaVar to rival college basketball.

LiAngelo, 26, now plays for Astros de Jalisco in Mexico and never featured in the NBA.

He had spells with the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets but never played a regular-season game.

LaMelo, 23, has been with the Charlotte Hornets since 2020.

He won Rookie of the Year in 2021 and was named to the All-Star Game in 2022.

None of Ball’s sons have commented on their father’s surgery.
