A Caleb Williams-Jim McMahon collaboration isn’t something I had on my 2025 NFL offseason BINGO card, but I’m glad that it is something that happened.

Also: It is an absolute joy to see the Punky QB doing stuff like this. The 65-year-old McMahon has a lengthy history of health concerns. So to see him do a spot with Williams sparked some joy for me. I hope watching the video above gave you that feeling, too.

The more I think about it, the more I realize how much Caleb Williams and Jim McMahon have in common. Both players were excellent college quarterbacks whose accomplishments led them to become first-round picks by the Chicago Bears. Both players have colorful and engaging personalities. The combination of being fun and productive made McMahon a fan favorite. If Williams’ continues to be productive, then it won’t be long until he reaches those levels.

My hope is that the future brings Caleb Williams one more common touch point with Jim McMahon — a Super Bowl title. McMahon is the only Bears quarterback to start and win the big game. Heck, there are only two Chicago quarterbacks to start in a game with the Lombardi Trophy on the line — Jim McMahon and Rex Grossman. To say the Bears are due would be an understatement. Maybe Caleb is the guy to make it happen. I guess there is only one way to find out…
