WALMART is selling an $11 dupe of TikTok’s favorite viral face spray – and shoppers can’t stop praising its natural looking results.
The store is being applauded online for the duplicate product that offers a similar experience at a much lower price point.
The supercheap retailer is now stocking the L’Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Facial Water Mist, which is a replica product of Saltyface’s much pricier product.
Their product is selling for $44 – $33 more than the Walmart version, which could buy you three bottles of L’Oreal.
The Walmart dupe has capitalized on TikTok‘s love of the viral face spray – and the reviews reflect this.
Out of 697 reviews on their site, 282 of them are five-star and only 19 are one-star.
This is a 40% rating versus a 3% one.
One happy customer wrote: “I’ve used in multiple occasions and always gotten natural looking results.
“No weird streaks and fades fairly evenly as well.”
A second person said: “I am very satisfied and like this product very much.
“Easy to use, fits well on the skin, results in a few minutes, no yellowness.
“The only thing I realized is that after two uses, the skin should be cleaned well with a scrub or tonic and then use it again.
“This way we avoid stains. I bought one and I plan to buy more.
“P.S. The effect is visible for a 3-4 days.”
A third shopper added: “This makes the perfect color for my face.”
Whilst the L’Oreal version is popular at Walmart, not everyone was as thrilled with the product.
One reviewer said: “I do not like this at all. Please bring back the serum!!
“As I spray this product on a cotton ball it gets all over and I can’t use my lotion with it.
“The serum I could use one pump of tanner and one pump of lotion and mix together.
“It was wonderful. Bring the serum back.”
SALTYFACE SWINDLE
The product at Saltyface, called Tanning Water, does come with some optional extras that separates it from Walmart.
Their version comes in different shades, namely light to medium and medium to dark.
This helps customers find the shade that’s right for them, instead of using one and hoping it works.
The Tanning Water is vegan and guarantees that it will not clogg your pores.
Why does self-tanner smell?
Many self-tanners have been described as having an odor similar to the burning of flesh or cat pee, according to NBC News.
This unpleasant odor is due to the chemical reaction that occurs between your skin and dihydroxyacetone (DHA), the main ingredient commonly found in sunless tanners.
This ingredient is also what causes your skin color to turn tawny, or a yellowish-brown color.
Reviews for this are similarly positive when compared to L’Oreal.
One customer noted: “Super light and natural, no weird smells or staining. Highly recommend!”
Someone else commented: “I have used self tanning products for almost 20 years and nothing else compares to Saltyface.”
Saltyface’s version is a more premium product and advertises specific product guarantees that Walmart doesn’t.
The main difference is the price point, and how much you get in the bottle.
Shoppers can expect to find three fluid ounces in the L’Oreal bottle, whilst Saltyface customers will have to make do with 1.8.
