KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Three people are dead following a domestic dispute outside the Cabarrus Department of Social Services, according to Kannapolis Police.
Around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, officers responded to the parking lot of the Cabarrus DSS at S. Cannon Blvd about someone firing a gun. As they arrived, they saw two people shot to death and a Cabarrus County Sheriff's deputy in pursuit of the suspect, officials said.

The chase ended about 18 miles away from the DSS center when the suspect pulled over in the 1500 block of Lower Palmer Road and fatally shot himself, Kannapolis Police confirmed.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
No DSS employees were injured and the DSS center in Kannapolis will be closed for the rest of the day. Officials said department services are still available, including at the Milestone location at 4855 Milestone Avenue in Kannapolis. Residents can call 704-920-1400 for assistance.
Authorities said this remains an active investigation.
