Florida has had an up-and-down women’s basketball season, but the Gators picked up an SEC win in thrilling fashion on Sunday in Gainesville.
Florida and Mississippi State were tied up 66-66 on the game’s final possession. Senior starting guard Jeriah Warren put up a 3-point shot before the buzzer, and got the right bounce off the rim to make it the game-winner.

— Gators Women’s Basketball (@GatorsWBK) February 16, 2025The 3-pointer was Warren’s only field-goal attempt of the 4th quarter. She finished with 12 points in the game on 5-of-11 shooting from the field, including 2-of-4 from behind the line.
Florida was led by freshman starting guard Liv McGill, the game’s high-scorer with 20 points. McGill was 8-of-14 from the field, making 3-of-7 3-point attempts.
McGill did most of her scoring (17 points) in the 1st half. The Gators had a 37-31 at halftime but saw MSU pull ahead 55-51 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
The Bulldogs were on track to get the road win, but UF finished on a 9-0 run over the final 2:44. MSU made more triples (9-6) and grabbed more rebounds (34-29), but Florida scored more points off turnovers (24-17) and was more productive in the paint (34-20).
Florida improves to 13-13 overall, with a 4-8 mark in conference play. The Gators will try to make it back-to-back wins on Thursday at Texas A&M.
Mississippi State is now 18-9 on the season, with a 5-8 SEC record. MSU will look to bounce back against Texas A&M next Sunday.
