San Diego FC (SDFC) wrapped up its preseason Saturday with a 6-0 win over the New York Red Bulls in the club’s third and final match of the 2025 Coachella Valley Invitational.
Anders Dreyer led the scoring with a brace, while Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, Luca de la Torre, Marcus Ingvartsen and Emmanuel Boateng each added a goal.
“Everything was clicking, the way that you would want it to click,” head coach Mikey Varas said. “Its a huge credit to the players, just the quality that they have and also the conviction for the style of play and how quickly they’re getting to know each other.”

SDFC opened the scoring Saturday in the 8th minute when Lozano found Dreyer, who cut inside and buried a left-footed shot past Red Bulls goalkeeper Carlos Coronel.
Nine minutes later, Lozano doubled the lead, beating Coronel one-on-one to finish a breakaway. Just before halftime, De la Torre made it 3-0, controlling a long ball from Jeppe Tverskov and slotting it home in the 40th minute.

Three minutes later, Lozano found a wide-open Ingvartsen, who buried a left-footed shot to make it 5-0. Boateng converted the penalty kick to round out San Diego’s scoring for the afternoon.
Aníbal Godoy expressed his thanks to the burgeoning SDFC fan base, which made its presence felt in the desert.
“It’s good to have fans at this tournament and for us to try to build, you know, a team, to build the confidence,” the midfielder said with a smile. “I appreciate the fans coming to watch us here in this tournament, and now (we’ll) be ready for the next week.”
